What is a Rake Race?
A rake race is a competition to see who can genereate the most rake, poker points, raked hands, or another specific requirement in a period of time, usually a month. Each poker player is competing against other poker players on a specific poker site or network. In most cases a rake race will payout the top xxx number of players, with the top place finisher receiving a very significant part of the prize pool. The biggest rake race to date is a $1,500,000 monthly rake race on Titan Poker with the rake race winner taking home $100,000
Types of Rake Races
1) Rake Race - Your position is determined by the amount of rake you have earned for the poker site.
2) Raked Hand Race - Everytime a pot is raked you get 1 point. The person with the most points at the end of the race wins.
3) Points Race - This is probably the most popular version. The winner is determined by the number of poker points earned at that specific poker room. Each room calls their frequent player points by a different name. Points rewarded are usually rake or playing limit dependent. If the max rake is taken, then you earn more points than if the min rake was taken. Or if you play 200/400 limit, you earn more points per raked hand than if you play 1/2 limit.
Make sure you understand all the rules as well as the terms & conditions of the poker site before you devulge too much time in winning that rake race. Feel free to also read the RakeRaceNews.com How to Win a Rake Race guide, to help you race your way to the top.
